Work-in-Progress Wednesday

I'm hooking up to Every Day Crochet this week for Work in Progress Wednesday.

I have 4 completed squares and half way into the 5th square for my Elegant Pineapple Afghan and my Granny Ripple has grown about 8 inches since I last posted about it. However, with 90 degree weather again they both are being pushed to the sidelines. I think sometime in October they may reappear. They will be a cuddly project for when evenings are getting cooler.

With that said I certainly do have to have at least one hook flying so here is something I am working on which will either be a coaster or doily. I think I'm leaning more toward a coaster size. We'll see what the hook wants to do.

And switching gears completely, with paintbrush in hand a major WIP is my kitchen and dinette. Going from white to "Nacho Chip" ... (yes, its that same Harvest Gold from the 70's). One wall has been completed and as I'm not the youngster I once was this will be a WIP for a while, however the color is growing on me more and more to where tonight when I came in I found I really do like the color.

Pop over to Every Day Crochet
and see what's happening.

Good Morning

Although we're back into a few days of 90 plus degree weather the early morning air is cool and refreshing. So enjoy these quiet moments.

With the change of season in sight found it was time to bring out the paint brush and roller and have started a huge color change in my kitchen. Years ago the color would have been Harvest Gold, now its called Naco Chip ... just what I need, hope it doesn't make me hungry! One wall is done, I like it and then I'm not so sure. I have never used a color on the walls that is this dark so I think the not so sure is coming from adjusting from white to this.

Just blocked my September Doily of The Month last night so I'm ready for September. Will be posting probably this week. Hope you will like it.

Time to venture out, have a wonderful day.

Sunday Splendor

As I wait for my morning coffee to brew I am taken with the streak of sunlight across my little table. My chair next to it where my morning prayer will be done, where I watch tv, crochet, read or just relax.

The crisp freshness of this morning adorned with the sun. It is a most beautiful sight to start the day

with Sunday's Grace.

Beautiful sunshine today with a coolness to the air. Happy to be off today. Looking forward to tending to household chores and cooking. I love puttering and making everything fresh, especially in this weather. With that said, off to put together a double batch of sauce to simmer for the morning and then into the freezer later this afternoon.

Have a lovely day
and weekend.

Wednesday Wishes

For a great day ... I've gotten my wish for sweater / sweatshirt weather the past few days. The temps have been holding around the high 60's with need for a light covering. Yay. However... the need for a little sunshine is strong. Didn't put my order in correctly I guess but I see the weather reports for abundant sun tomorrow and Friday. Marvelous! Looking forward to a nice cup of tea and some good reading after work.

Enjoy the day.
God bless.

Thread of Thought

When I say I'm thinking of you ...

a cute little emblishment to place on a card
of your own making to a dear friend,
an adornament to a sweater or jeans,
a shade pull ...
make two and sew together around stuffed fabric for a little pin cushion.
Only four rows, does ever so quickly but says

I think of you ... your in my thoughts.

Thoughtful blessings.

Simply Saturday

Happy Saturday. I love weekend mornings. Its a morning, like any other, but for some reason it always seems different. There seems to be a certain stillness unlike the other days. Or maybe its just that I don't need to be out for quite a while yet and can enjoy the home front. In any case, its a few hours of slow moving, quiet, pleasant time. Just simply Saturday.

I'm busily getting some of my house ready for Fall. I know its a bit early but I'm so ready for the refreshment that it brings. Also lining up my crochet projects for the next few months. Hadn't really gone looking for what to crochet, just have come across several projects that I really love. I think I have enough to keep my fingers busy through most of the winter although I know that I'll always find another pattern to drool over and have to add to the list that never dwindles (happily!).

Enjoy the simple blessings of today.

Apples Already?

I noticed on the way home tonight the crates are in the orchards just waiting to be filled with their harvested apple crop. But its August, is it really time? The picking hasn't begun yet, but with the crates in place it is about to begin ... very soon.

Wasn't it just yesterday that summer arrived? I know I have been busy, but where did summer go? Although I do love Fall and the crisp cool weather that follows, the smell of burning leaves and the house filled with simmering scents of stew and the vibrance of the colors of nature.

Here's hoping to a long lasting Fall.

A pleasant night and sweet dreams.

Can you believe that we are getting close to the middle of August ... the days of summer slowly (quickly!) passing by. I've noticed that the night and morning sounds are changing and even though its still be quite warm there is a change to the air whispering that fall is around the corner. This year the months are far ahead of themselves, leaves are falling! My back yard continues to be filling with falling leaves. Never do I remember the leaves falling this early. As much as I hate to see the time pass so quickly I will welcome the cooler and sweatshirt weater. My favorite time of year. Got to run for now, time to get to "it"!
Have a happy day.

Sweet Thoughts and Giving Joy

and me, the recipient. A small package in the mail last night, I recognized the return address right away which gave way to my very large smile. She's done it again! Sweet, sweet girl, Tammy of T's Daily Treasures.
T's Daily Treasures She's been visiting here in the US and has sent me again treasure before she departs for home.

Such a happy dishcloth, an adorable heart, both crocheted just so beautifully. I love them both. But beyond that, the thought, the time to reach out.

Your card speaks of joy ... you sent me joy. I thank you.

August Granny Pick Beginning

This is my first square of the Elegant Pineapple Afghan, the granny pick of August. Its really much prettier then the picture shows. This is going to be such an amazing afghan.

Square number two is started, just completed row 4. Wouldn't this size make a nice coaster / mini doily? Ride home will most likely finished this square and possibily another. Hope the traffic is better!

Will be picking up the ripple granny to finish when I get home. There was too much yarn involved with the ripple to bring with me so this pineapple project was just perfect for traveling.

Look what a car ride can do.

Simply Simple Afghan, my friend's granny pick from June is finito! Passing time on a drive and especially in a good hour traffic jam and the results are smashing. I really love how this came out and will be adding a hexagon sweater to make a set. I used Lion's Pound of Love and its oh so soft. Perfectly cuddly for a little one.

Another keeper pattern. I would love to see this as a bed cover with larger granny squares for the middle. Here we go ... back on the to do list.
Have started the Elegant Pineapple Afghan, almost finished with the first square ... this is another fantastic pick!
Happy Saturday!

New Granny Picks

This Elegant Pineapple Afghan (FreePatterns.com) is my friend's next pick. I will be away for a few days and I think I will take this with me to try it out and give it a start.

I also think I may have to try something like this Christmas Granny Afghan. I have never made a holidty afghan and I'm getting the itch to stitch one!

Wherever your travels take you,
have a wonderful, blessed weekend.

Granny Pick Progress

My friend picked this granny pattern for June.

Simply Simple Afghan, Free-Crochet.com

Forty little squares to make and join. That seemed like it was going to last forever but now they are done and together.

And now the border. This is the really simple part, not that any of it was hard. Makes for a relaxing evening of tv and crochet.

I think there are about another dozen rows to do. It will be a nice newborn blanket.

Anxious to see what her next granny pick will be although I will get my granny ripple completed next (along with some thread crochet).

A lovely evening to you.

How Cute!!!

Spent a few days visiting with a dear friend. Had a lovely lunch on Saturday and when returning came upon this ...

Is this little guy just too cute ... love his goggles.

You could tell he was just enjoying himself immensely and taking in all the sights. We laughed and smiled all the way home.
