Waiting in the wings ...

My current two projects are coming along nicely, one almost done.  I'm finding I really enjoy having two large projects going at once.  Its a nice change to go from one pattern to another and different colors.
The next two projects have been identified (I think).  Grannies again.  However, one never knows, the hook is just so fickle, hard not to be with so many wonderful patterns.  Seems like everything I see I want.

The yarn has  been selected and sits waiting.  One of these will be started as soon as the daisy granny is finished.  It now is about 30 inches square.  I'm not sure if I will leave it at the 30 inches (before edging) or add another 6 square strip.  Of course, I want to start a new project so my first thought is to finish it where it is now, but I think the added length might be better.  Back to the drawing board!

Time to brew the coffee and get ready for the day and a week which promises to  be a busy one.

And the work week is in full swing.  Off and running shortly for the morning, looking forward to moving the hook later on this afternoon.  Maybe at Barnes & Noble with a "skinny" java chip.  A friend told me about the skinny, it really tastes good!  I didn't notice any difference from the high test.    A new summer favorite.  Mmmmmmmm.
The hook is busy now between two baby blankets.  My pink daisy is taking shape, however I think I may make it larger then I had originally planned so will need additional squares.  And the square within a square has been started.  I love it.  A wonderful, fun pattern designed by Debi of Dly's Hooks and Yarns.  The pattern is well writen, easy to follow and goes up quickly.

Here's to a good week.

A Rainy Day in July

Yesterday it poured, all day.  The temperatures dropped and having had the day at home took advantage of the cooler weather ... the Red Granny is completed!
I'm quite pleased with it.

I can see another or two in the future.
Now, on to completing the pink daisy.   Most of the squares are done as are three strips so it should be done shortly.  You know what this means ... I can start another.   (Make that two more ... yikes!)   I just have to have several projects going at once.

I just have to mention  ... I've watched quite a bit of news regarding the theatre shooting in Colorado ... I really do not have words for this horrific happening.  I can only say that my prayers are being offered.  Who would think that in such an innocent thing as attending a movie would such happen.  My heart hurts, my thoughts and prayers with all.

God bless,

Finding Fabulous on Friday

Instant gratification with thread ...

although I've been on a granny square kick as of late I do take a bit of time here and there for some thread crochet.  Little doilies and coasters are a wonderful break from yarn and quickly produce a treasure to be enjoyed.

I'm thinking of making sets of four of a few of these to have on hand as holiday hostess gifts.

Speaking of my granny addiction ...
look what I found at Stitch of Love ...
are the color combos amazing?  So colorful and bright and what a wonderful stash buster.  You can find the link for the pattern at Stitch of Love and while there see her own lovely creations.

Welcome to the Weekend and a bit of cooler weather.
Blessings,

What's Doing Wednesday

Yarn, yarn and more yarn!  Grannies, grannies and more grannies!  Isn't that just grand!
The daisy granny is really a fun pattern to work up.  Its easy and a pattern that seems to just work itself, its that easy.  A good one for TV time.  Have about half the squares done, a third of them joined now.

The red granny has taken over the dining room with half of those squares joined as well.  Its still a little too warm to work with this for too long a time so its my go to now and then project.  It makes me smile, its just that happy!

I am still undecided which pattern to use for the baby boy blanket needed for November.  These are my two choices.  Deciding on whether the squares will be small or larger ones.

And, of course, you don't think I could browse around and not come up with another have to have ...  I am head over heels for this which I found the other day.  You can see more about it at Fiddlesticks.

As you can see, my project of choice at the moment .... g r a n n i e s ...
Have a great Wednesday

Sunny Sunday

Early morning coolness has been a welcome but is slowly dissipating as the temperature is starting to rise.
This week's prediction is that of high heat.  Not wanting to whisk time away any faster then it seems to be moving I have to admit I'm longing for cooler, Fall type weather.

Heat or not the hook will move.  Following mid day Sunday dinner, the afternoon will bring forth a few more daisy squares.  Will show the progress later in the week.

Wishes for blessings of the day,

A little more then a half day work today, then errands to run and hopefully some time with the hook and yarn.  The red granny ends have all been woven in but still need a bit cooler weather to begin to stitch together.  The daisy squares are accumulating and a small doily/coaster to be finished this evening.  And that's the crochet front from here.

Hope your day is a pleasant one and the weekend as well.

Abundant blessings,

Sweet Results of the Weekend

Arrived at MIL's yesterday afternoon to find the daughter of one of my son's friends making us some peanut butter cookies.  These were absolutely wonderful.  I loved these just like this and then found out there would be peanut butter frosting and chocolate.  Oh my!

The frosting was delicious.  Guess who licked the bowl.  She initially printed out a recipe and then adapted it to her liking.  This is a 17 year old who loves baking, I think she will go far.   I could picture a wonderful bakery, with a side room of yarn ... now that would be some time of joy ... wonderful, delectable sweets, cup of tea and crochet.
And while she was busy baking I was busy crocheting.  A very simple hotpad.  Just seven rows of cotton, 10 inches from point to point.  Pattern to be posted shortly.

Have a happy start to the week ...

Sunday Morning

The early morning gave cooler temperatures today which are most welcomed.  The day is abundant with sunshine and blue skies.  Still enjoying the quiet for a bit.  Basking in the silence at the moment, joys of this day.   Prayers and morning coffee, a most peaceful start.

Playing with the hook last night and I think a simple, easy hotpad emerged.  Will fiddle with some more this afternoon, may have a new pattern to share.

Sunday Blessings

Next ...

Daisy granny ... started yesterday, the pink one.  Very easy and so pretty.  Quite a bit accomplished already.

Have made several centers and then different stages of progress.  After several test attempts I settled upon using two crochet hooks ... an I (5.5MM) for the flower and center, then size G (4.25MM) for the remainder of the square.

Its a wonderful pattern and I think will be a well treasured blanket.  I still have the blue one in mind too for a very special friend.  Once I determine the shades of blue and yellow center I will pack a take along bag for the blue one.  I can see that as a Barnes & Noble crochet on those hot and steamy summer days.  Hook, yarn and a Java Chip, now that's a summer delight.

Enjoy the weekend.
