What's Doing Wednesday

Finally, finally, finally finished my twin round ripples.  Just last night.  This is one of my favorite patterns and usually I can do this in a few days.  These took  longer for some reason.  Thinking maybe got a little bored with the same color, although the last few rows I thoroughly enjoyed (knowing I would be done).

Now to get them ready for their long distance run and to the awaiting first time mom and dad.  Blessings to the new little arrivals.

Have started the doily~ghan.  You knew I couldn't wait!  I did use the pink and white from my stash and the pink is a much lighter, baby pink but its a good thing to use what is on hand when I can.   Didn't have the shade of green though, so did have to pick that up.

What's doing in your neck of the woods?

The Best of Both Worlds

I'm a crochet addict, no doubt about it.  And my favorites to crochet are doilies and afghans of all sizes and types.  So, having seen what Sarah of Sarah's Sweethearts has recently completed I have found my next project for the hook.  A doily~ghan!  Ohhhhh, it can't get any better then this.

Sarah made this for her little daughter.  Is this just absolutely beautiful?   I love everything about this and will boldly proclaim that I am going to do the same colors as well.  An I hook was used.  This is just so striking and so soft looking.  Perfect for a little girl.

The pattern used is by Denise Augostine called Summer Splendor.  Where to get the pattern can be found on Sarah's blog.

My round ripple blankets are coming down the home stretch and I will be reaching into my stash for pink and white very soon.  I was thinking a quick trip to Michaels but I may even have a green of this shade ... going to check.

Slow starting this morning, but need to quicken the pace shortly.  Today's start is a bit later then most days so able to enjoy the sounds of approaching spring for a bit.  Surprisingly I haven't seen a robin yet, I've got to believe they're there, just not when I am.

I am most thankful for today.

Prayers continuing.

Putting Things in Perspective

Many places to be, many things to do.  Some time will be taken to work on and complete a project of my favorite craft ... the second round ripple blanket is six and a half rows away from completion and then both will be sent to their destination to await the arrival of twins.   Pictures to follow shortly.   My adorable snowman stitch along will be given attention to this weekend as well with a wonderful new SAL in the wings.

My weigh-in was a minor disappointment with a gain instead of a loss.  More attention will be paid to meals for the next week.  An April 3rd wedding to attend and the dress to wear would appreciate a few less pounds ... enough said.

I suppose I could go on and on, but I think you will get the message ... here I can sit and do and be that which I pretty much want when so many parts of the world right now are devastated to the worst possible conditions.  I am so very blessed.  I should never, ever complain.   I am so saddened by the disasters that have taken place.  My thoughts and prayers go out to all.

Thursday Thoughts

We were just recently having this discussion ... this past year in turning 60 (I think this age is a hoot!) I find the body is a little more reluctant at times, but this brain of mine still thinks it a slender, energetic 18.  Have to tell you, I like the way it thinks.

Ahhhhhhh ...

Blog:Stitch a Valentine-gift a long sigh of relief...  after six days of a headache, it seems to be subsiding.  Saying that quietly as I'm hoping it stays away!  I was surprised at how much this impacted my crocheting and cross stitching.  Hopefully I'll get back to my projects and get them completed soon.  I had really fallen behind on my Stitch Along and I see another one has been selected and its a beauty.   I really want to do this one as well.  Hop on over to Stitchy Mc Floss and she'll tell you where to get the chart and join in the Stitch Along.

What's Doing Wednesday

Ash Wednesday ... the Journey begins ... again.

Last night as we were finishing supper and glancing out we saw two deer just beyond our back yard into the orchard.  They walked around for a while and then just sat down and looked about, for over an hour.  In the stillness, I was struck (as I always am) by the beauty of nature and it seemed so appropriate the day before Ash Wednesday to so clearly see His presence.

God given, untouched by human hands, gentle creatures.  Awesome, to say the least.  I wish the pictures were clearer but these were the best I could get.  I was going to go out but then I decided against it as I didn't want to scare them off.

It is a special time for me, a quieting and  prayful time from which I hopefully will emerge a better person.

To those of you who walk this journey,
I wish you a good lent and beg your good prayers.
To all I offer my prayers.
Blessings

I'm thinking, I'm thinking ...

It's getting closer.  (Fifteen days now!)  I keep saying that as I look out my back window to the yard covered in snow.   Slowly its melting, today should be 50 degrees so more to go.  We should have lush lawns after the winter soak. Looking forward to the changing of the clocks and light evening hours.  I love the spring and summer nights.

Received a most pleasant surprise at weigh-in with a 4 pound loss this week.  Could have knocked me over I was so shocked.   I was expecting (hoping for) a pound.  This new weight watchers points plus has been more then quite doable so far, actually I'm eating most everything.  I have, for now, stayed away from desserts and junk food, which I should anyway.  But I can make them a once in a while treat.  The fruits and vegetables more then fill the needs.   I certainly don't expect that type of loss every week, but I have to say I was happy.

My son returns to active duty today, off to more training, actually at this time he is on his way.  Will get to see him again at the end of month, then not again for a year.  God bless all that defend and protect freedom.

Enjoy the weekend,

Good Morning

Starting off very slowly today, a tad bit under the weather so I'll be spending my time with the hook until I have to go out.   The one round ripple is now finished and the next one started.  Good thing, I would like to get these to their destination before the twins arrive.  That being said, the cross stitch along has taken a back burner for the past few days, but I do hope later today to get some x's in.  Since starting cross stitching I've taken notice now of some wonderful new designs.  Everything I see I want to make ...

Oh and I can't forget, today is weigh-in day.  Keeping my fingers (toes, legs, eyes) crossed that there's at least something of a loss.  I think I found the secret though to weighing in ...

If this doesn't work,
nothing will.

Have a lovely day and weekend.

What's Doing Wednesday

Threads ... Yarn ... and more Threads ...

The stitch along has begun and this is my opening day progress.  I'm quite please with the solid color.

My round ripple is now just three rows from completion.  It will finish at 40 inches.  Once that is done, another one to be made.  Those twins boys are due soon so I really need to get the hook moving here.

My first cross stitch project, in probably decades, is about three quarters done.  I am visualizing a mini Christmas tree next year with my snowman cross stitch pillows or ornaments.  A small tree to leave out all year and change the ornaments to the season which would be mostly cross stitch.  Wouldn't that be nice?  And that means got to get the needle moving as well.

Hope you can take some time
to do what you love
on this Wednesday.

Tuesday Treasures

Crafting ... any type ... crochet, sewing, painting, cross stitch ... many others too numerous to list.  It allows one to create, whether their own pattern or to recreate from a pattern of another.  And thank you to all those that share their creations and patterns for us to make and enjoy.

Today begins a Stitch Along hosted by Stitchy Mc Floss, chart from Gazette 94 gazette94: BONHOMME DE NEIGE 2008

Decisons, decisions.  There's a full color version or the solid red.  I had decided to do the red, then changed my mind for the full color and now back again to the red.

This sweet little snowman will no doubt become one of my treasures.  Isn't he just adorable?

Like crocheting, cross stitching is a most pleasant way to spend a quiet evening.  With each stitch the piece begins to come to life.  Its a most enjoyable craft.  Looking forward to this stitch along.
