What's Doing Wednesday

The greengate blanket is slowly growing, row by row with a  row or two being added each day.  I'm now 22 rows into the second part with 63 rows to go.  This is a really large project but one I am loving.  I've been searching around looking for pillow patterns to complement this.

My CAL doily from Stitchy McFloss has 10 rows to go.  Its such a lovely doily and a wonderful size.  Hope to have this completed soon.

Now, I've been looking for some cross stitch charts to work on when I have discovered needle tatting!  I have always wanted to learn tatting but found the shuttle somewhat difficult.  Last Sunday visiting with a dear friend and her cousin I found the cousin making tatted wreaths and with a needle.  She has graciously offered to teach me.  I also found this book by Barbara Foster.  Very well written and easy to understand.    It comes with 4 needles too.  Needless to say, I'm quite excited to learn this and add to my thread addiction!

Today's agenda will have to be readjusted with a quick trip to see the doc.  I have shingles.  Realized this last night and hope I can catch this before it goes to far.

And that's what's doing on my Wednesday.  Hope that your day is a good one.

What's Doing Wednesday

Woke this morning to single digit temps and out and about at 10:00am to not much warmer.  It is so cold ... how cold do you ask?

Yes,  I know ... this is a little weak, but it did tie my morning jaunt together as speaking of Weight Watchers, I am one again now.   With an unexpected day off, decided its time to get on the straight and narrow.  Signed in, sat through the meeting and I'm off and running the eat healthier race again.  I certainly treated myself to more then I should have over the holidays and not only do I want to shed a "few" pounds (ahhh, maybe a bit more then a few pounds) but I know how much better I feel when I do.

Here's looking to a slimmer spring and summer with great expectations on maybe reducing some medications.  Now that's a super incentive too!

Heard yesterday that we're supposed to get 10 inches of snow on Friday.   We haven't had a winter like this in years.   Time to get the soups and stews simmering.

The plans of the afternoon are steaming hot coffee and hook and yarn.    Have a great mid week day.

Joy and blessings,

What's Doing Wednesday

Christmas8

Christmas9Looking forward to the afternoon ... its Christmas kissing ball making time.   Last year we made one for the first time ... our friend Ann was kind enough to show us how.  It not only produced such a wonderful decoration but was a lovely day spent among friends in this season of joy and therefore declared to be a tradition.

Here's to new traditions and the Spirit of the Season.

What's Doing Wednesday

IMG_2756Thanksgiving just a day away.  This week kicking off the holiday season.  The turkey is thawing and the weather has been cold and crisp with the fresh scent of winter.  Brings to mind Christmas carols, peppermint moca coffee and twinkling lights.  The bird feeder has been filled.  A note on my shopping list for another feeder, a replacement to the one that broke.  The holiday puzzle arrived today.  Thursday evening will find us laying out the perimeter of the puzzle.  The one we chose this year is called Gingerbread House.   Darling houses wih lots of activity surrounding them.

IMG_2757The Aran Afghans to Crochet book also arrived.   Such beautiful patterns.  I'm sure this book will be well used in the future.   This book is the one which has the pattern for the aran afghan which Heather (The Good Life) just finished.  I have to have one.

The aran that I am currently working on is a bit more then half way done.  This is such a fun project.
IMG_2761My wool eater is also coming along nicely.  Twenty six rows almost completed now and this too about half done.  Both of these are heavy weight afghans and so cozy and comforting, perfect cold weather companions.  Both to be given as gifts.

Full day work today then looking forward to tomorrow and the smell of turkey cooking, the sound of March of The Wooden Soldiers from the TV and moments of just settling in with my little family.
Blessings

What's Doing Wednesday

The past few weeks have seemed to pass by even quicker then usual.  I noticed yesterday that the leaves are starting to really turn.  The evening are quite cool and sweater and sweatshirts are needed especially in the mornings now.

Happy to say that the crochet hook continues it dance.  My CAL of the Sarafia Afghan is nearing completion.  Forty-eight squares now assembled and the second row of the edging just being started.  Quite a few ends to be woven and it will be ready to go to its new home.  Will post a picture though before it leaves.

Its such a wonderful time of year to be working on afghans.  They provide such comfort and warmth during these Fall evenings.  Adding a cup of tea and all cozy.

Hope your week is going well.

What's Doing Wednesday

Last minute change of plans today so going from out and about and working to at home.  For me a chance to putter and work some on a reorganization I have started.  The Fall always invigorates me to do a little extra but my inspiration came from Old Grey Mare .  Just take a look at this set up ... so neat, pleasant to the eye.
IMG_2678So, for the past few weeks I've been using Michael's coupons and keeping an eye open for baskets on sale.  So far six baskets have been acquired and the organization has been kicked off.

IMG_2685Behind these doors is my first project to be tackled.  I had done some organizing not too long ago, but I like idea of the baskets which will give me reason to unload the closets (which are way too over loaded), decide what is to be kept and what is to be disposed of or given away.
IMG_2683

Of course there has to be some crochet time, no?
IMG_2687My Sarafia CAL is humming along.  Actually, I will devote more time to that then my other projects at the moment.  Thinking three more rows to be added.  Unless I find another pattern I like more this may be going to a special lady who just started chemo treatments yesterday.  I was thinking this was bright and cheerful but I'm looking at this and seeing Spring, maybe this should be more of a Fall/Winter feel?  If you have any suggestions or other pattern that would be better, please let me know, I would appreciate it and I'm always looking for new patterns.

Ok, enough time on this ... back to my baskets and then to the hook for another square.  I love the diversity!  Silly, huh?

Happy Mid Week,
Autumn blessings.

What's Doing Wednesday

Oh, a little of this, a little of that.
Just passing through.  In from morning work for a quick lunch then out for an afternoon appointment.   The morning looked like we were in for a rainy day, but no, the sun is out in full glory although very humid.

Can you believe its August?  My little grandpumpkin will be a year old shortly.  He's now running everywhere.  I never knew such joy.

I must tell you ... I heard it, I sensed it this past Monday ... the feel of Fall!  Yup ... its here already.  And ... we have leaves in our back yard!  Not that I mind,  Fall is my favorite time of the year and each year I always hope it last longer.  I guess if I feel it this early I will have a long Fall.

Enjoying nightly harvests from the garden, it is so good!  For that I have to give Summer a thumbs up.  Here's to garden tomatoes and fresh bread later on followed by some evening crochet.  Goodness, can it get any better then that?
Have a good afternoon and evening ...
blessings,

What's Doing Wednesday

Yarn, yarn and more yarn!  Grannies, grannies and more grannies!  Isn't that just grand!
The daisy granny is really a fun pattern to work up.  Its easy and a pattern that seems to just work itself, its that easy.  A good one for TV time.  Have about half the squares done, a third of them joined now.

The red granny has taken over the dining room with half of those squares joined as well.  Its still a little too warm to work with this for too long a time so its my go to now and then project.  It makes me smile, its just that happy!

I am still undecided which pattern to use for the baby boy blanket needed for November.  These are my two choices.  Deciding on whether the squares will be small or larger ones.

And, of course, you don't think I could browse around and not come up with another have to have ...  I am head over heels for this which I found the other day.  You can see more about it at Fiddlesticks.

As you can see, my project of choice at the moment .... g r a n n i e s ...
Have a great Wednesday

What's Doing Wednesday

Oh, a little of this and a little of that.  Yarn still being hooked - the ripple blanket slowly coming to completion.  It really should have been done this weekend but I wasn't happy with how a section was looking so ripped out and redoing.  Its been comforting tho working on at night with the cool weather we've been having now.

Have slowed up on the bobbles and zigzags also ... I am thinking maybe I would like better using a larger hook, maybe doing it in a double crochet and maybe crocheting in the back loop only ... lot of maybes.  So I may be redoing this one as well.  There was a time when I wouldn't think of doing over, but have found as I've gotten older I don't mind doing that, especially in a pattern I love.  Wow, does that mean I'm finally developing patience?

Although my yarn projects are still being done out of my stash (and will be for quite a while to come) I recently picked up some very pretty thread colors at Hobby Lobby.  Summertime creations being planned.

But I did have to start a small doily ... there's just something about thread crochet.  I think its my number 1 crochet passion.

Aside from the crochet world, had taken a break from the Weight Watchers front for a bit but planning to re-start shortly.   It really does make for feeling and moving so much better.   I did attend meetings this past time and met such wonderful people and learned great tips and I have to say I do miss this interaction.
To work at noon, think I'll give the steel hook and thread a whirl before having to leave.

Blessings and all good things,

What's Doing Wednesday

A third of the way completed of bobbles and zigzags.  A fun crochet, and for this one, no thought to coloring.  Just reaching into the basket and see what I come out with.  It will be not only a bright, colorful lapghan but a nice cozy, warm one as well.

What's doing in your Wednesday ...

What's Doing Wednesday

Wednesday again ... already!  Goodness, time is just flying ... as is the hook.  The little one's round ripple is finally taking off.  I initially had started this with ecru, brown and blue but his room is now blue and green with brown accents and so too will the ripple be.  As I am starting this over I also switched to another ripple pattern which I like even more.  Really love this pattern, a fun crochet.
In getting ready for the bobble zigzag ... went through my stash and I have just about every color in Red Heart except for white.  So off to Michael's ... Red Heart super saver was on sale for $1.89, home came three whites.  For once I went for what yarn I needed and no more.  That's quite an accomplishment for me being the sale!    Ready ... just have to wait for the book with the pattern.  Now I think I have every color.
Of course, while I was at Michael's I had to check out the sales ... my little bird, flower pot and greens was 60% off.  I couldn't resist.  I love my little bird ... will be spending his time keeping me company on the window sill over the kitchen sink.

Happy Mid Week,

What's Doing Wednesday

Mid week, lots going on, busy, busy, busy ... and who isn't?   The what I want to do is move the hook but that will have to wait till later this evening when hopefully the last row of  the doily I have been working on will be completed then onto a weekly pattern from a crochet group and a  blanket to be started for the grandbaby.   His mama just finished painting his room blue and green with brown accents ... so shall be the round ripple crib blanket.

But first off to a day's work.  Be back later tonight.  I wish you a spring in your step, a smile on your face and a song in your heart ...

What's Doing Wednesday

All over but the shouting for another year.
Apples have been picked, crates filled and on their way to the coolers and market.  Seems like autumn started slowly this year due to all the rain but has quickly caught on over the past two days.  Beautiful colors abound.

Much ado for the week ... busily cleaning and plans being made for a Saturday excursion to a Wool Festival ... over 100 vendors, lots of yarn in all forms from the sheep themselves to shearing, spinning and hanks of wool.  I can imagine apple cider and donuts to be a much desired treat.   Promises to be a lovely day ... weather and all per the forecast.

The candy corn afghan completed with a Christmas one being worked on for the little pumpkin.  Yup, my holiday afghan has taken back burner ... again ... lol.  Maybe next year!

Hope your mid-week is going well ... take good care.

What's Doing Wednesday

Harvesting is still happening here in our neck of the woods and shortly will be done for another year.

Row upon row of apple trees, heavily covered in produce, now standing bare of fruit and being readied for their winter rest.  Trucks making their way through the country roads to transport to the cities and markets. Another sign of the season.

I am grateful for the tranquility that surrounds us.  Far too often taken for granted.

Thanks be to God.

A Bounty of Blessings,
