With just a little bit of size 10 crochet thread you can make these simple little swirls which add a bit of whimsy to your tree or gifts.
With a size b hook, chain 31
1.) 2 single crochet in second chain from hook
and across - 60 single crochets
chain 1, turn
2.) 1 single crochet in each stitch across,
chain 1, turn
3.) 2 single crochet in each stitch across
and fasten off.
That's it, so very easy, so very cute!
With a squirt of spray adhesive you can add glitter for a sparkle.
Hi, the other night, I googled images of crochet snowflakes, I found your blog, and instantly became a follower. I am learning how to crochet, but I use plastic bags instead of yarn right now... I don't read patterns very well, my brain has a hard time understanding them. so I usually just copy the Idea. Tonight I followed your little instructions on this hanging ornament, and mine turned out great, (made of plastic bags). Thank you for the idea! You are now one of my favorites! Karyn
ReplyDeleteMy mom crochets beautifully and I have yet to learn. This project seems very doable though. I'll have to try it soon.
ReplyDeleteHow fun, I can't crochet, but my husbands g-ma does and I bet she could do these! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOooooh, it's all coming back to me! I used to crochet years ago, and as i read your instructions the fog began to clear :) Might try to find my old knitting/crocheting box and see what I can do. These ornaments are so great...and would compliment the ones my gram made!
ReplyDeletethanks for joining the party...
I have never crocheted before but I know someone who does-I will have to send them your link because this is such a lovely idea.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, Natasha.
You've created some little family heirlooms. That's fab!
ReplyDeleteI just don't get the crochet language but I did ask for crochet supplies for Christmas because I'm determined to learn. This looks like a great first project. Thanks for sharing with Made it Monday! Jules
ReplyDeleteI have never being into crochet but these are definitely a keepsake.
ReplyDeleteJust an fyi most people are not getting the correct info in their reader-my updates are over 2 weeks old and I have made multiple other posts. I've been on with Google multiple times and they don't have an answer and I am not getting everyones updates in my reader either.

These are really cute. They are perfect family heirlooms. I'm going to try doing them and see how mine turn out. Thank you so much for this pattern and idea.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! So simple I just made one and then had the idea that they would be really pretty if sprayed with glitter that would make them sparkle when placed on the tree!!! Also cute hanging on the switch of a light. Took me maybe 10 min. to make one. Thanks for the pattern. Would also be cute as a decoration on a package.
ReplyDeleteVery nice site, I'll link to you because I think it will benefit the "two" people who read my blog (me and another nice lady named Wilma). lol. Thanks for the inspiration and for sharing your free patterns.
ReplyDeleteThese are so sweet. They will be perfect for my younger sisters for their hope chests.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for these crocheted Snow Swirls pattern. I too, and learning how to crochet and this pattern makes it easy for me so I can make something to add to the tree at the Library! I have a hard time reading patterns too, but this one I understood!. You made my day!
ReplyDeleteReenie!
I am just getting back into crocheting, also and very excited about this cute little pattern. I am going to try it with a two colored thread. I make Toilet Paper Covers that I learned when I lived in Idaho but have no pattern, so they are unique every time! So cute with ribbon and an artificial flower on the back of the toilet. Happy crocheting to everyone. Bev in SC
ReplyDeleteis it possible for you to do a video demo of your idea. i don't understand the instructions.
ReplyDeleteI just found your website and I am very interested in your doily crochet patterns. I have done a lot of doilies over the years but have kind of gotten away from it. Seeing your site has given me a new interest in finding my hooks and get at crocheting again.
ReplyDeleteA little suggestion, a person could use some filament thread with the crochet cotton for twinkle.
ReplyDeleteI am so grateful to have found your site. I am making some of the snow swirls and will starch them and use on my tree this year. Delightful!! Thank you...hope to try one of the doilies!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the sharing this idea,my next door neighbor in Puerto Rico taught me how to crochet when I was about 9 years old. ReplyDeleteI just want you to know that this blog has just made my day with the prayer that has been published to give this day to the Lord Jesus Christ. With all the tragedy from the horrible storm in the Eastern section of our country it has been a reminder that God is still in control and we have the blessing to know that God cares more than we do for the poor people that are affected by it. THANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteYou can add a wire or pipe cleaner though these too so you can bind them into a candycane shape.
ReplyDeleteI just finished my first one but but 4 year old grandson found my jingle bells and insisted i put a bell on it.I put it on the top but I think the next one I am going to try on the bottom.I also have some smaller pony beads and was thinking about using some of them also.
ReplyDeleteOOOHHHH!!! I like the pony beads idea! Maybe little colored glass beads would be fun. And they'ed cath the lights! Oh now I have to make these. My grandma taught me to crochet when I was little. I am sooo grateful for that.

ReplyDeleteI am thinking of using Aunt Lydia's silver or gold metallic size 10 thread for these little gems. I think it will add a nice extra sparkle! It is such a cute pattern! My three granddaughters will love the ones I intend to make for them!
ReplyDeleteI did crochet a silver snow swirl, and it turned out great! Now I'll make a gold one and maybe one with beads crocheted into row 3. The possibilities are endless! Thank you for such a neat and simple little pattern!
