Its Thursday Thoughts Again

Goodness, its been a week since I've been here.  Don't know where the time, days are going - just flying by.  The hook has been busy and most certainly fickle.  Working on a doily, red granny, field of flowers and would you believe it wants more!  I do have to get two baby blankets in the mix.  A pink for October and blue for November so I do have a bit of time.  The pink one will be from one of the one's showcased at Pammy Sue's, her picks are right on!  There's now so many things I want to make that I have seen there.

Big day today, my oldest's birthday.  Thirty-six years ago, born 10 weeks premature.   Thank you God, he's a healthy, happy man today with a son of his own.  Blessings abound.

A blessing filled day ...

Again with Blogger

Oh Blogger, you do so frustrate me.  Seems one problem gets corrected and another pops up.  Can't upload pictures, not sure I can post yet.  Maybe its the weather, very warm for first day of summer, 98 degrees.

Loving my crocheting take alongs.  The granny squares small and perfect for days like this.  Hopefully I can show you what progress I have made soon.

Keeping cool ...

Just Beautiful

Have you seen this beauty?  I first saw this at Pammy Sues's (Scotty's Place).  She has a knack for finding such eye catching pieces.  Pammy Sue says that you just have to have a red granny and she's right.  She provided the link to Hopscotch Lane where this was made and the details are.  While you're visiting there, take a look around.  Such wonderful, beautiful creations.

So now that the Zigzag Bobble is finished and I only have a "few" in work pieces I too am going to have a red granny and yes, I am copying colors and all.  I am taken big time with this.  Another lovely cuddle up to brighten any day.  Just look at all those lovely ends to weave in.  Actually, I don't mind.  Completed squares are easy to take along when I'm out and about and before you know the ends will be done.

Have had a bit of a time finding the right blue though.  What I finally was able to find will mean restarting.  We just don't have enough yarn selections in our area and heavens knows I wouldn't have the patience to wait for a mailing now, would I?

We're having the most amazing weather the past few days.  I could only wish that the whole summer could be like this!  Hope your weekend is a great one.

Blessings,

Finding Fabulous on Friday

The crop at MIL's is bursting. Its here tht I do most of my cooking so I'm very happy that son and DIL have taken the time this year to plant. Leeks, cilantro, chives, parsley and basil and in abundance.
Basil pesto will be a well used recipe this summer. I've already harvested a hefty amount of basil and look how it has replenished. The aroma is incredible.
Its will be a delight to pick for supper, such freshness, so delicious. Tomatoes, zucchine, cabbage, peppers.   Can't wait till the tomatoes will be ready. Tomatoes, onion and basil salad and fresh Italian bread ... a favored meal in our house during the summer months.
The back porch is surrounded with such beauty, so pleasant to be out there.
And of course, delight inside ...
I've zigged, zagged and boggled to finish.

Lovely weather, windows open and house airing.  Housework, cooking with some afternoon crochet.  A good plan for the day.  The hooks are restless, just waiting to start a new ghan and doily.

Have a wonderful day.

Sunday Morning

Sunday morning.  I love the early morning hours.  Stopping for a bit, even if ever so brief, to look around and see the blessings about.  The start of a new week and I offer thanks.

I'm still zigging, zagging and bobbling but slowly getting near to completion.  I think I will be finishing in three more rows and then the edging.  Its another such happy, cheerful ghan.  How I love these.

Of course, the next project has been selected and the basket sits ready and full when the zigzag bobble completed.  Again, a bounty of color.
On the agenda for this afternoon following dinner at MIL's will be my take along crochet.  Field of flowers.  I love making these flowers.  Only have done three so far.  Taking my time, enjoying the craft.

Blessings to your day,

Just stopping for a super quick moment, then out to start the day.  Its a crisp, sunny morning.  The leaves rustling in the breeze.  Everything fresh and green and colorful.  The looks and sounds are beautiful.  Hope your day is as well.

Monday Menu

Brown rice ... a new summer fare for me.

Usually when I cooked it on the stove top it was either a bit underdone and I would continue to cook and then it would be somewhat mushy.  So, doing a search I came upon this supereasy way to make it.  Perfect Brown Rice
1 cup short, medium, or long-grain brown rice
Kosher salt, to taste

1. Rinse rice in a strainer under cold running water for 30 seconds. Bring 12 cups water to a boil in a large pot with a tight-fitting lid over high heat. Add the rice, stir it once, and boil, uncovered, for 30 minutes. Pour the rice into a strainer over the sink.
2. Let the rice drain for 10 seconds, then return it to the pot, off the heat. Cover the pot and set it aside to allow the rice to steam for 10 minutes. Uncover the rice, fluff with a fork, and season with salt
MAKES 2 CUPS

I only used about 5 cups of water and it came out fluffy and delicious.
To the rice I added:
a green pepper and onion, diced
chopped cilantro
oil and lime juice

A wonderful, refreshing and healthy side dish.
As the rice freezes very well, I measured one cup portions and froze to have ready.

Enjoy...
