Good morning! Breakfast and morning prayer finished, sipping coffee and reviewing the day's plans. A breezy sunshine day with much ado on the homefront then off to run some errands later on.
I have put my comments on moderator status right now. All of a sudden I am being bombarded with anonymous comments / spam. I am annoyed to the point that I am not sure that I want to continue with blogging. I just don't understand how come there's always someone somewhere who has to ruin nice things. I have seen on a few other blogs that anonymous comments are not allowed but I haven't been able to find where I can set that up so for the time being I'm moderating all comments. If they continue I may have to go to the word verification as the spam amount is almost ridiculous there are so many. I am curious if any of you are also being bothered by this.
Hope your day is a good one, have a lovely weekend.
Blessings,
Hi Glor, I moderate my comments and that seems to have taken care of the spam problem I was having. Sounds like your morning is off to a great start. Have a wonderful day, Heather
ReplyDeleteIn your settings you can mark that you won't allow anonymous postings. I found that took care of the problem I was having.
ReplyDeleteHi Glor. Sorry about the problem you are having with comments. Funny, I have not had that happen yet. Not that I won't. Hope it is resolved soon.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!
xo Kris
Hey, Glor! Congrats on your weight loss! Weight Watchers is a great program. I have been on it many times with success. Problem is I lose the weight and go crazy, gaining it all back. Keep up the good work. We can do this!
ReplyDeleteI have been bombarded with spam since the beginning of the year too. I moderate all comments, but I still get it and have to get rid of it. It is annoying as heck, but I will not let them win!
I'm another one who isn't going to let the spammers win. I've tried just about everything, including deleting posts they attacked the most. But then they find something else to attack.
ReplyDeleteI, too, moderate all the comments, but I allow anonymous comments (which supposedly the spammers have automated tools to find and that's why they hone in on us) because I have many commenters who do not have blogs, and that's the only way they can ask questions about patterns. Moderating comments will keep them from appearing on your blog, and Blogger does catch most of them and divert them to your spam folder, but sometimes legitimate comments and questions will land there, too.
Just recently I decided to try turning off the comments on two old posts that were receiving about 20 spams a day, and that took care of them for now. I know they will be back, but for now, at least I don't have to read them!
I was getting the spam comments too and it is soooo frustrating! I'm sorry hon.
ReplyDeleteHey there, Glor. Yes, I've noticed that the spammers are certainly getting a lot smarter and can get around some of the filters. I had one very long one that was posted in my comments which was a surprise because blogger is normally very good about filtering the spam. But I just delete it and move on. I don't quite get what the purpose of their efforts are. My youngest son says the spammers make money when you click on their links but who in their right mind would click on anything from someone they don't know and it is usually just a bunch of gobbledy-gook anyways. Aggravating to say the least but such is the way of the virtual world I guess. Take care and have a great weekend. Tammy
ReplyDeleteSpammers and telemarketers, they just never stop. I do the moderate comments and just weed them out. I've had much more spam since the first of the year too. Not all spammers are anonymous so moderating the comments works best for me. You'd be missed if you gave up blogging so please stay with us.
ReplyDeleteI have my comments on moderation too.. Its helped loads in keeping spam away.. hugs Mausie
ReplyDeleteI had a small problem with spammers, so I just don't allow anonymous comments. And yes people that don't have blogs can leave comments. It hasn't been a problem since. Have a great day and don't let the spam win.
ReplyDeleteHi Glor - sorry to read that you're troubled by anon comments. Why do they bother? Please don't let it stop you blogging - there are lots of lovely peeps out there who love to read your posts. I've just found your blog by accident (courtesy of One Yarn After Another) and will certainly be calling by again. Love for now, Chris x
