My Happy Ghan

This is the "small" afghan I started when we were teaching crochet. The pattern comes from a Michael's project sheet for a scarf. The scarf strips are 5 inches wide. Initially I was going to do a lapghan but I have a throw that is a nice comfy size (54 x 45) and I have decided to go with that although with the joins between the strips it may be somewhat larger, we'll have to see where it comes out. Now, I don't know if its my age or what, but these bright colors have become very attractive to me, I'm not sure that I would have looked twice at these color yarns several years ago.

Leftover from my wool eater blanket are the Red Heart yarns shocking pink, lavender and pumpkin, I did purchase the turqua to add more (?) contrast. Do you think I needed it?? ... any way, I'm loving the colors and the joining done in the shocking pink.

I love the texture and warmth of this pattern and it is very easy to do. Great for sitting in front of the tv and crocheting away! Here I am using a size G Hook. Its about 1/3 of the way done. I will try using a larger hook for the next one.
Wishing you happiness and blessings all the day.

  1. Love your happy ghan, Gloria! The bright colors are quite popular now, and I find that I am really enjoying them. When Laura was expecting Clayton I was surprised at the colors that were popular for babies. Not just pastels any more, but bright tones, and even some muted tones...but not much in the line of pastels. The times they are a changin'. ;D

Actually I have always loved bright colors, but I toned it down since they weren't "popular". Now it seems anything goes, and I am fitting right in! :D

  2. Rita, you're right ... I think I've always like bright colors as well and toned them down, although I never would have thought of putting together colors like what I did my wool eater blanket in which led to this one.

  3. The bright colours are wonderful on these lingering grey winter days. Even here where we don't have snow and cold, winter seems to drag on, too cool to plant anything.

  4. I do believe in angels!!! I have seen their works! I love your blog header! It is true angels are among us!

  5. Bright and colorful is always fun. Looks like you are working right along on this. Enjoy! Looks great. Enjoy the weekend. Blessings, Tammy
