Africa Flower progress

Have joined most of the squares (I made 40) and see that I will need quite a few more (actually I think I may need at least another 40). The size here is 28 inches and I'm thinking it should be at least 50 plus inches as I would like for it to be able to cover the top of a bed.

Right now I'm not sure about the colors but maybe with colored pillows and bedding it may pop more. But that will remain to be seen for quite a while. The warm weather will now slow down the progress of this. I can get the individual flowers made but sewing together may have to wait. It is certainly a warm, cozy blanket.

When I make the next one I will have the white background which I think I would have liked better although I am pleased that I am able to use yarn and leftovers that I have.

and how about this Cute little journal.
Hmmm, the theme here seems to be cupcakes.

All this chatter about cupcakes, I think I have to go cook some up. (I know, I know ... but bake starts with b and didn't fit in ... corny, huh?)

Ciao
for now

African Flower progress

Thirty two flowers and counting. So far I have used 8 colors and will be making 5 flowers per color but I am thinking that I may need 7 (or more) of each color to make the size lapghan that I am looking for.

I am using my stash of Caron Simply Soft ... again no purchases needed. And just look at the results from that which has been sitting around.

Love, love, loving this pattern. I can see that this will be a more then one time use pattern.

I can just imagine being cuddled up in this softness.

Ahhhhh ...

Have a good day!

Not leaving home without this. Rainy day in our forecast. Hopefully will cool it down a bit. The plants will enjoy this.

Dodge the drops and have a good day.

My First Time

Completed another round ripple in the colors of baby for a sweet little girl. And then I am going to do something I have never done before ... after 40 years of crocheting I am going to list this one for sale.
I have had people ask how much I want for specific items and usually I then just make them what they had asked about but I'm going to take the plunge and see what happens.

If anyone has any suggestions, etc., I would greatly appreciate any input.
Off to write up a description. This could be exciting!

I couldn't resist

going to get a few more white geraniums. This is the first time ever that I have gotten white ones. They just mesmerize me. Four to be exact, one for me for my kitchen and the other three I will pot and give for a happy day thought to someone.

Just to say I'm thinking of you, you're special to me.

I was glad I returned to the nursery again quickly as the number of plants had reduced drastically.

Isn't nature just amazing. I am so struct at the beauty it.

To your days I wish you
all the beauty of life.

Geraniums ...

Inside and Out

We went to the nursery yesterday to get a few flowers and tomato plants.
One the the hothouses was a sea of red and white geraniums. It was a magnificent sight. So home came 4 geraniums, 2 white, 2 red, immediately planted three pots and a planter of coleus, doused all with water and miracle grow. So my summer flower gardening, though be it so small (3 pots, one planter and a small bed of impatients), is enough to add a splash of color and lots of enjoyment. Now to sit back and watch them grow and blossom.
And of course now that the outdoor geraniums are positioned, out came the picture, the pillow, tray and artifical ones for the house. I'm thinking I may have to go back and get a few white ones from the nursery and pot them for inside in my kitchen.

When I was in high school my mother would plant geraniums every spring. There was a white brick planter lining the sidewalk to our front door and she would fill it with red geraniums. Funny how back then I wasn't that fond of geraniums, actually didn't like them. Now ... they are one of my favorites. Isn't it amazing how your tastes change and I have to say, most generally, for the better.

An absolutely wonderful pattern!

My latest stashbusting project is a delight.

As are many others, I am totally taken with this pattern ... African Flower Pattern.

You can find the pattern at By Elizabeth Cat in the comments of her May 17th post. Pop on over to her blog, just wait until you see the colors that are being used. Enough to make one drool! (Browse her site while you are there, its very beautiful as is the rest of her work). I'm trying really hard to stay with the stash I currently have as I need to make room before I add any more yarn but I know one of these days I am going to have to venture out to get some of these vibrant shades.

To many happy hours of crocheting!

Completed Granny Project

This is one little afghan that you can't lose in a room. It certainly makes its presence known. However, it does speak happy to me and I love happy!

My girlfriend picked out this project. Initially three of us were doing this and we were going to swap squares but there was a marked difference in size so we all did our own.

It was a really neat project and has given me a whole new perspective on the granny square and its variations. I told her that she has to pick out a June project now as she does such a good job in finding fun and satisfying crochet.

AND...no yarn purchases. This was from all yarn lefover from other projects and what I had on hand.

Here's to granny squares in the future!
Cheers and Happiness!

Granny Project Progress

Twenty eight squares of "B" pattern completed
for a total of 56 squares.

Forever I have shied away from granny square projects as it always looked far too tedious to me to be changing color, joining, etc. I have been quite surprised and found that this was one of the most enjoyable projects I have worked on. Maybe because 58 squares is attainable, I did recently see a beautiful afghan on a blog (can't remember off hand which one) that was over 250 squares ... maybe that would be more difficult, I don't know. Eventually I may try one to that size and see.

The hardest part so far has been laying them out, trying to figure out what goes best next to what, then finally deciding how the squares are randomly selected is how they will be. With a few adjustments that actually worked out for the best. Other then that one could spend hours trying to position these.

So now, onto joining and edging.

Geesh, not even finished and I am already thinking about the next project. I really can't help it, there are just so many beautiful things to make.

Granny Square Happy!

Wet Wednesday

Digging out the umbrella and heading out to start the day.

Wherever you are, have a pleasant one.

Here's to a ducky day.

for a bit of crochet talk ... my granny project squares are almost all done, 57 completed, one to go!
