What's Doing Wednesday

Bitten by the cross stitch bug I'm stitching some holiday designs.  Figured if I start now there's a chance they will be done by Christmas.  (I know, I know ... its not even summer but really, its never to early to think about Christmas, is it?).
This is the Quaker Holly design.  It was supposed to have french knots in the center of the flowers and by the leaves but I put red seed beads instead.  I like the shine it adds, which doesn't show in the picture.

This will be an ornamental pillow.  The center is supposed to have the date in it but I'm thinking I may put some type of charm in the center.  Have to pick up some holiday fabric for the back.

Just started my little reindeer.  Isn't he sweet?  Just plain and simple.  I love it.  After this I have a few cute ones for fall which I hope to accomplish.

Shortly the needle will take a break, the crochet hook will start flying.  A group I belong to is having a doily mailing which I am participating in so will need to get ready for that.

Looking out back this morning when I came in here and what did I see ...

All the years we have lived here this is the first time I have seen a turkey.  Of course when I went to get my camera he then decided to go from mosy to trot so the pictures are not very clear.

Hope that all are safe and sound.  The storms that have been hitting the middle and western parts of the country have been terrible.  My prayers to all.
Have a nice day.

  1. Your stitch work is very pretty Glor. :-) We had a wild turkey in our yard a few years ago, first and last time I've seem one to date. Have a wonderful day!

  2. Where I'm from, you would see gaggles (?) of turkey as much as you would see deer. Granted, middle of nowhere Indiana has a lot of wildlife :)

Love the cross stitch work and I agree, when you handmake gifts, it is never too early to think about Christmas.

  3. lovely cross stitch, it is never to early to complete these kinds of things...it will be here before we know it.. I'm really liking the reindeer...it has a 50's sort of look to it...would make a cute ornament for your little tree you posted about a while back.

  5. I love your stitching! I am with you it is "never to early to think about Christmas". :)

Turkey's are funny. Every once in a while we will see a wild one on the edge of the woods, they are really pretty, but funny, too.

I can't wait to read all about your doily mailing, I've never heard of those, but they sound like a lot of fun. :)

I hope you know that your kind words that you left for me yesterday are like a balm to my soul. I treasure your words and kindness always. :)

  6. Better to snap a trotting turkey than never to see a turkey at all!

I love that tiny reindeer. The antlers are so cute!

  7. There are lots of turkey here in GA. I have one that was coming across my driveway every day at 3 in the afternoon and driving Leo nuts! The dang thing was going the same way each day at aboutt the same spot. I thought that was kind of odd. I wish I was home every day at 3 to see if it's still doing it. (This happened when I was home for 2 weeks for my surgery)

  8. Yikes, I can barely keep up and you are already creating for the holidays. I need to finish this baby afghan first and then I would really like to do more cross-stitching. I love simple projects and they can be turned into something really sweet and special so easily -- it's just finding the time to do it all. But only a few weeks of school left and then the days will be mine again. Woo hoo! How wonderful to see that turkey. I bet he's glad it's not the Thanksgiving season. ha! Best wishes, Tammy
