Setting down the hook ...

but just for a few moments.  An extremely busy week is approaching but I would like to get this done before the weekend.  Going to give it a good try!

In the meantime, my time out was because I was so excited to see my cross stitch ... Winter Sampler ... which arrived yesterday afternoon.  But I have to admit, initially I was a bit overwhelmed.  I had wanted a piece to work on in cross stitch "over time" that was larger and more intricate.  Talk about asking and receiving!

For me, a novice at best, this is huge!  However, I still do love it.  I can see that it is going to be quite a bit of time just getting ready to stitch.  Will you just look at the chart, and this is only one out of four.  Look at all that floss!

I have always admired the work of stitchers, but I certainly have a greater respect for the time and effort they put into their master pieces after seeing this and this is not one of the big ones.  I was reading a blog recently where a project being worked on had 12 charts to it.  Can you image?
This piece still does talk to me though, I can picture a chilly winter's eve covered in my toasty afghan adding stitches to this treasure.  That's part of the beauty too ... no time limit, just enjoyment, stitch by stitch.

However, time to get back to my hook, she's awaitin' ...

Have a good evening!

  1. Love the round ripples. I am thinking I want one for Christmas.........

  2. Your current crochet project is looking lovely! Yikes to the cross-stitching. I used to make detailed stitchings, but now I run in the opposite direction when I see them. Well, not literally ... but in my mind. I just can't put the time into something that takes that long. Quick and simple is what I aim for now ... Have a great new week. Tammy

  3. Your round ripple is looking nice with the blues and off-white - makes me think of blueberries and cream. mmmmmm. :)

  4. Love your ripples, it has my favorite colors, very beautiful! I've never tried cross-stitches before, so I always be inspired with so many cross-stitch work!!!
Hope your new week is gorgeous! x

  5. this cross stitch is going to be beautiful...what a treasure...have a good day my friend.. your crochet work is so pretty, for the little guy? I know busy-ness awaits you this week, and adds to already full plate..pace yourself, and create a little bit...from Faith Crochet by the Sea

  6. Wow...that cross stitch is awesome. I love that it is something you can do at your own pace and enjoy and not have to feel rushed. I love that. :) The afghan that you are working on is so cute. I bet you are already finished. Hope this week gives you time to hook and stitch and enjoy life at a slower pace.

Blessings to you and yours always :)

  7. What a great attitude! It will be difficult and time-consuming, but it will be beautiful and worth everything you put into it. I like having a project on the side, too, for those days when I need a break from something intense. So I think you've covered your bases!

  8. I can't wait to see it when it's done. I get quite intimidated by the stitching. I started a beautiful one a long time ago, got about a quarter done with it (it wasn't small either)and realized that I made a mistake on my count and it was off by 2 or three stitches. It blew my mind. I put it in a box and never picked it back up again. I think that was in my 20's. I threw it away finally last year......

  9. I found another feather this morning...:) in the front yard this mornin, as I went out to turn my Sun Pickles....a small one, dark in color...a simple joy..
