Spectacular Sunday

A spectacular start to the day.  The army boy called, sounds very good and doing well, thank God.  Our prayers continue for blessings and protection.  Said temperatures yesterday peaked at 118.  A tad hot I would say.  Water, drinking lots of water is an absolute necessity.

I'm on my second attempt at adding baby's name to the blanket, having ripped out the first design.  I just can't seem to find the right alphabet design.  I'm wondering maybe I should try to outline this or maybe I should just leave the blanket without the name.  Any thoughts or suggestions?

In the meantime I'm still looking for another alphabet design ...

Haven't gotten to cross stitch in a few days now but I did order a Christmas Sampler.  Enjoying very much the small charts I have found but want to have a larger one to work on over time (like I don't have enough projects!) and fell in love with this.  Since I retired I have come to enjoy winter
(for the most part) and Christmas has always held a special place in my heart and when I saw this thought it was the perfect piece.  Now that I look at this again, I can see this certainly will be a long "over time" piece ... lol ... but I can also create several smalls from it.  This is my first large piece so I hope I haven't bitten off more then I can chew!

Hope your day is a spectacular one.

 Joyful Blessings

  1. it;s me the annoymous Faith Crochet by the sea

the sampler looks just right...a treasure for his keepsake box.your new sampler looks complicated, but you know what your will be lovely when done and looks old fashioned...very pretty. lots of will stunning when your done...enjoy the process. to hot for me too them young bucks can stand is fun and challenge for must be that whole testosterone thing going on hee....warm here today, but cool by comaparison...only 90 they say.

  2. I like the cross-stitch name glor - looks like a good font for a boy. :)

  3. So happy about your boy. It's hard on Momma, i'm sure.

I'd outline the letters. Love the name on it. A gift to treasure.

  4. Your blanket looks great Glor, I'm thinking a black outline stitch around the letter would really make the name pop out. Sounds like you've already had a wonderful Sunday with your phone call. :-)

  5. I like the design. I agree with the outline. Maybe a slightly darker shade of blue? or even the black? Don't take it out. I think it's GREAT!

  6. I love the sampler! Awesome...truly. :)
The blanket is so pretty. I think it will look good with a name or without. Many prayers being said for the Army Boy for protection and blessings always. :)

    I can't wait to see the's beautiful.

Blessings to you and yours always . :)

  7. Glad to hear your son is doing okay. He is likely having the same weather we are. Dreary and dusty and hot. Backstitching always makes things pop and the great thing is you can take it out if you don't like it. But I think it looks great so far. Best wishes for a beautiful day. Tammy

  8. Maybe you re to close to the "trees"? Put it away for a few days and then take it out and look at it. I think you will agree with the rest of us. It is beeeeeeeeeeeeautiful!!!

  9. I agree with other commenters who say Dominic's name looks great. With or without outline. I love the font.

I'm keeping our servicemen and women in my prayers, too. I hope they can all come home soon!
