These are two of several blankets that I was working on thirty-five years ago. I had forgotten about them and was happy to find them.
I vividly remember sitting at my MIL's kitchen table, two of her sister-in-laws were visiting and I was working away on this ripple.
The ripple does have two spots which I need to repair, but other then that they are in like new condition. It is thrilling to pass these on.
This wonderful blanket was made by my MIL also thirty-five years ago. It was the Afghan Stitch, now called Tunisian Stitch. The teddy bear and boxes in the side panels are done in cross stitch. The picture really does not do justice to this beautiful blanket. It is truly a treasure.
These were made with great love. Priceless treasures.
You're right..Priceless!!

ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful treasures to pass on, Gloria. Love them!
ReplyDeleteThey're lovely. The ripple blanket is the same colors I used for my first baby almost 33 years ago. Those were the days when the baby's gender was unknown until birth.
ReplyDeleteThe blankets are so cute! They mean even more since they were made by such loving hands. I love that they have cross stitch on them.
ReplyDeleteI thought about how you said you wanted to learn to do needlepoint. Our May SAL will be learning how to do needlepoint with the cutest bird design on the planet!
Blessings to you and yours always
Hi Glor, how wonderful that you came across these lovely blankets and now can pass them on. The blanket your MIL made is gorgeous. I tried to do a small something in Tunisian stitch but just couldn't quite get the concept of all those loops on the hook. Hope you are having a good week so far. I am off to bed. Goodnite! Tammy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful heirlooms.
