Africa Flower progress

Have joined most of the squares (I made 40) and see that I will need quite a few more (actually I think I may need at least another 40). The size here is 28 inches and I'm thinking it should be at least 50 plus inches as I would like for it to be able to cover the top of a bed.

Right now I'm not sure about the colors but maybe with colored pillows and bedding it may pop more. But that will remain to be seen for quite a while. The warm weather will now slow down the progress of this. I can get the individual flowers made but sewing together may have to wait. It is certainly a warm, cozy blanket.

When I make the next one I will have the white background which I think I would have liked better although I am pleased that I am able to use yarn and leftovers that I have.

  1. It's beautiful. I'm thinking if I figured out the pattern, I would have to start small -- a pillow maybe. I make flowers with leaves and squares to make afghans -- and have done so many in the past -- big ones and baby blankets. But does take time. That's why lately I just stick with simple things -- I need to feel a sense of accomplishment within a week or so, not months. HA! Of course, all those unfinished projects are just staring at me, begging me to complete them. One day! Have a blessed week. Tammy

  3. So pretty! I like that neutral shade around each colorful flower - really makes you focus on the central motif. As was said above, keep going!

  4. That is very pretty - one day I must try it myself...I've never yet made an afghan where I had to connect so many pieces. I'm kind of impatient that way, but it sure looks beautiful! Nice job!
