Settling back in after a few days of a visit with a very dear friend.
A keeper, a lifetime friend ...forty-three years and counting.
A most enjoyable time, adding to the mountain of memories.
Before I left the leaves were popping, so yes, they are completely popped now but still have that lighter, spring green. I expect they will become much darker by the weekend. This year I did pay attention and for the first time saw the opening of the leaves. I am always awed by the beauty of trees. I love a gentle breeze and the rustle sound that can be heard. A lullaby being sung by Nature.
Picking up my favorite size 4 steel hook and the bright, soft thread of Red Heart size 10 in the color Goldenrod, started a doily of my own design. I have had a pattern rolling around in my head for a bit now and would you believe this is not one bit like I have been thinking. I think my crochet hook has a mind of its own. I have no idea of where this is coming from, just started crocheting and this is what's coming out. We'll see where this leads to. One thing I do know is that I have not made anything with thread in a while and I am loving it. Thread and doilies still continue to be my passion! Hopefully soon I will have a new doily to share.
Take a moment to experience.
Blessings.
Hey Glor! So glad you had a wonderful visit with a sister friend. This doily is looking to be a bit squarish rather than the round you normally do. I am ready to try something new so when you finish and post the pattern, I'll be right there with hook in hand. Have a wonderful Wednesday. Tammy

ReplyDeleteHello. Those lifelong friends are treasures. Happy you had a wonderful time. I am always in awe of those who can create crochet patterns...amazing! Like you, I miss crocheting with thread right now. I want to finish that afghan...15 squares completed, at the halfway mark~unless I decide to add another row for length...Hope your day is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWelcome home dear friend...beautiful doily so far...such a rich color..they don't carry that at my Micheals..they stick with the pick, blue, green, and cream, no Red Heart at all...I wonder why? Looking forward to what you and your hook create...lovely day to you...
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had a nice visit. :)
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you loving the sound of the rustling leaves in the breeze. It's so calming.
I can't wait to see your doily. You are so creative. Thank you for sharing all your talents with us.
Wishing you a lovely day filled with sunshine and many blessings. :)
So glad you had an enjoyable time with your friend, Gloria. And I know exactly what you mean about thread and doilies...I am feeling the same way. I enjoyed making things for the grandkids and a couple of afghans, but once I get my hands back on some #10 thread and a doily pattern, I can hardly contain myself! :D
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see it. What a beautiful color!
ReplyDeleteBless you for enjoying working with thread :) I find it a challenge but rewarding when done.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you had a good visit. I am looking forward to your finished doily. And yes I think hooks sometimes have a mind of their own..Please post a pic when you have completed it. I too have a passion for doilies and all things worked with thread.
ReplyDeleteThat's precisely what happens sometimes when I start a snowflake or a novel. I have something cooking in my head, and I sit down to do it, and something completely different comes out. Wild! I love what you're doing with your inspiration. Great color, too!
