Just the tip of the ice berg ...

Ok, so I've gone and done it, well some of it, and goodness me I have yarn and yarn and more yarn. So far I've gotten all the yarn that I had tucked away from the first floor of my house and put like yarns together. I can now crochet almost forever! I do have to admit this is a dream come true. I feel like I have my own yarn shop (although not all the yarns that I would love to have ... there's that addiction).

I am an avid sale shopper and I do have to say though that most of stash has been purchased at sale, coupon and discontinued prices. I'm at the point now that unless I really need something for a pattern, my purchases are running at $1.00 to as low as 25 center for a skein. Love it!

I have to tell you, I have been watching other blogs in getting their craft rooms in order and from them came my inspiration. This past weekend I completely cleaned out to the bare walls one bedroom and it is now a clean open space ready to be transformed to a crafting area (or at the interim, yarn, thread, fiber storage). Year's ago I was heavy into crafting and had a room where my sewing machine sat out 24/7. It was really a delight and made it so much easier to accomplish items when you don't have to pick up everything and store away after each working session. Just neaten up, toss unwanted garbage and you're ready to roll for the next session.

Like I said this is the start ... these are baby and 4 ply yarns from the 1st floor. I know upstairs there is hamper and two boxes of yarn, a rubbermaid tote and large wicker basket on the porch holds more (will probably at least double this amount) so I have yet to get half of the stash together in one place. By this weekend.

Peaches and Creme cotton crochet ... for when I want to make "a" potholder ...look at the price!

Oh ... did I mention thread ... crochet thread.
That I do have enough to crochet forever.

This is quite a large hamper and filled to the brim. I do have to admit that there is a rubbermaid tote filled as well. I was the fortunate recipient to receive two boxes of thread from a friend of a friend when their aunt passed on. Seems they couldn't find someone who would like this ... glad they asked my friend if they knew anyone.

As for crochet hooks, knitting needles ... lets just say I'm not gonna go there!

  2. I think I'd better come shopping at your house! Wow! I thought I had a lot of yarn but you do have me beat especially in the thread section. Can't wait to see pictures of it all organized. I'd love to have one of those built-in walls where it looks like you have a for-real yarn shop but I don't think that will ever happen. But that's okay too cuz if I can't see it then I think I need more!!!!!

  3. Love your stash, Gloria! Have fun getting it all organized. :) I always thought it would be cool to have a whole wall, sectioned off in "bins", sorted by color. Wouldn't that be pretty?! :D

  4. Hi Glor, wow! I can't believe you got that cotton yarn for .25 cents. I've been buying a bunch lately and making dishcloths. Of course, with the prices I pay in Kuwait, $1.47 is a great price to me. :) Looks like you are off to a great start with your craft room. I have yarn and scrapbook and cross-stitch stuffed into every corner of our place. One day, I hope to get organized -- but no extra space to do it it. Just gotta work with what I've got. Hope you are having a great week. Blessings, Tammy

  7. LOL and I thought I had yarn...... you just might have me beat.... I just donated a lot of mine that I wouldn't use and still have more than one room full.

I've had to stay away from Hobby Lobby and Michaels lately. Trying to clear out so we can move when the house sells and goodness yarn is everywhere!!!

  10. You could keep crocheting for a very long time, Glor! My Mom was a knitter and couldn't resist a good sale on yarn. When my Dad would come home and see yet another bag of yarn, he would ask, "What's for dinner, honey, yarn soup?" She would just smile and shake her head.

Have fun with it, and woohoo for getting it all organized! I'm working on that, too!
    Have a happy Thursday, gal!
    Blessings,
    Becky
