What's Doing Wednesday

Ash Wednesday ... the Journey begins ... again.
Last night as we were finishing supper and glancing out we saw two deer just beyond our back yard into the orchard.  They walked around for a while and then just sat down and looked about, for over an hour.  In the stillness, I was struck (as I always am) by the beauty of nature and it seemed so appropriate the day before Ash Wednesday to so clearly see His presence.

God given, untouched by human hands, gentle creatures.  Awesome, to say the least.  I wish the pictures were clearer but these were the best I could get.  I was going to go out but then I decided against it as I didn't want to scare them off.

It is a special time for me, a quieting and  prayful time from which I hopefully will emerge a better person.

To those of you who walk this journey,
I wish you a good lent and beg your good prayers.
To all I offer my prayers.

  1. Thank you for such a thought provoking post. I had forgotten the deep significance of this day and was only thinking of it as a day to go to mass. Your blog is one of the ones that I read daily and this is why. God bless you!

  2. Good Morning, this is a lovely calming I would be in awe and love to view out my window...the country....the nature
beautiful and God filled. Thank you for sharing this picture. Is the Orchard yours? Do you grow apples...?

  3. I always read your posts but i don't always comment, but todays was an extra special one, deer's really are truely beautiful animals and sometimes we forget how truely wonderful nature is, have a wonderful day, dee x

  4. A wonderful post. I love nature and the simple beauty it offers. If you take a minute to notice, it is very calming.

  5. May our journey lead us closer to Him so that we reflect His love in our daily lives.

I love the picture. Your blog is so enjoyable to read. Thank you for being a light that shines so bright in the darkness.

    Blessings always

  6. Oh wow! Like you, I am always awe-struck by the beauty created by our wonderful Lord...

Thank you Glor for thinking about about me. Did the cucumber help the migraine? I woke up with a migraine myself today and am having a rough go of it. Like you, I'm ready to try anything at this point! Hope you have a good Lent.

    Much love,
I would rather walk with God in the dark than go alone in the light.
