Progress ...

on three of my projects ...

1. Christmas Granny Afghan, yup, still loving it (of course not as much as when it will be finished!). Eighteen squares completely done, another 16 in different stages, let's see, that would be 34 squares, just under half the amount needed. Moving along nicely.

2. A doily started ... hope to work this through to learn the pattern so that I can do as a crochet-a-long and tutorial on-line as requested by an individual. I'm hoping this goes well.

3. Type up and get ready to post my October Pattern of The Month.

Three of how many you say? Let's just say ... I can be kept busy for quite some time!

Tuesday Treasures

Almost opposite ends of the spectrum ... fall ... bloom, but two of my now favorites. I say now because the newly aquired bloom plate was a result of a TJ Max visit this past Saturday.

And it does blend into my Naco Chip paint color but I think most of all its a wonderful reminder of allowing oneself to blossom ... whenever, wherever and always.

To every season,
blessings and blooms.

All day, all night ... and tomorrow too.
Its a soft, steady, gentle rain ... almost like a lullaby.

Pleasant dreams.

Monday Menu

Starting the week with a super easy, yet tasty dinner is needed for Monday. So here goes ...

Pasta & Vegetables

Romaine Salad

Fruit

Chocolate Pudding

1 pound of penne pasta
1 pkg 16 oz. frozen Italian Vegetables
1 can chic peas
1 large onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
olive oil
1 cup chicken broth
pecorino romano cheese

Saute onion and garlic in olive oil
Add vegetables and chic peas, cook till vegetables have thawed
Add chicken broth, simmer for about 10 or 15 minutes or at least
while pasta is cooking.
Spoon vegetable mixture over pasta, sprinkle cheese, salt and pepper to taste and
enjoy.

This is so very simple, quick and tasty. A good way to start the week.

Thursday Thoughts

The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand,
nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship;
it is the spirited inspiration that comes to one
when he discovers that someone else
believes in him and is willing
to trust him with his friendship

Tuesday Treasures

Signs of The Season

at a house I was at today ... I never cease to be amazed at the beauty of nature.
Always takes my breath away.

Tuesday Morning

This morning - very crisp air, stillness broken by the birds chatting to one another. It always amazes me how one will chirp and then others respond. This goes on for a while. Maybe they're planning on meeting for breakfast?

Its a beautiful morning, cool and still. Getting ready to leave shortly for work. Doesn't this picture just invite you to take a walk of solitude and prayer?

Earlier I was reading about troops getting ready for Afghanistan. My son will be one to go in the spring, seems some days I just can't get ahold of that, today is one of them.

May God bless and protect all our men and women who so bravely stand for freedom.

Monday Menu Sunday Prep

With a full day plus in the plan for tomorrow, tonight was the time to prepare Monday's menu. It will be nice to get home tomorrow evening and just heat up the main dish while getting the accompaniments fixed and then just sit down to a nice Fall dinner. I love the stews and soups that this weather brings out and this new recipe I tried out ... Lentil Soup with Ground Beef and Brown Rice ... is another keeper recipe. And again from Kalyn's Kitchen. This makes for two keeper recipes from her in the past week!

I have my own recipe for Lentil Soup (which I have to say is very good), but when I saw this at Kalyn's site I had to try it and am I glad that I did.

Soooooo, tomorrow night's fare will be ...

Lentil Soup with Ground Beef and Brown Rice
Biscuits
Romaine Salad with carrots and tomatoes
Fresh Peach Slices with Strawberries

Try it, you'll like it!

Christmas Granny Progress

Isn't it just great when you find a project that you not only love how the finished piece will look but you enjoy the making of it too! This is an easy to do, fun project. You could really just do smaller squares ending with the white for a fabulous Christmas throw as well.

Maybe its the colors themselves that add to the enjoyment, Christmas is certainly a favorite time. Whatever, I am so glad that I came upon this pattern.

Soon to be ten squares completed. I'm having trouble putting it down to give time to other projects, maybe when these last five are done, only needing one row of navy.

Have a Spectacular Saturday!

Recipes and Coupons ...

Made these stuffed peppers tonight ... the recipe came from Kalyn's Kitchen ... these are the best stuffed peppers I have ever had. http://kalynskitchen.blogspot.com/2010/09/recipe-for-stuffed-green-peppers-with.html

I made the four of them, thinking I would freeze one, but no, they were so good my husband ate three of them. This is going into the keeper file and in the front for easy retrieval.

And look at the little muffins ... are they just too cute and fit for the season? I've been eyeing the Leaves and Pumpkins silicon mold for a bit and today had my 50% off coupon. I knew there was a reason I was waiting to get this mold and of course had to use right away. Just love a bargain!

Enjoy The Evening.

Linking Up To Work In Progress Wednesday

As you saw I finally finished my granny ripple a few days ago, I have the Elegant Pineapple Afghan in progress but I just had to, had to I say, start my Christmas Granny. I'm sure you can understand ... there are never too many in progress projects when it comes to crochet and I'm hoping I have this for Christmas ... maybe.

The colors are so pretty ... burgandy, hunter green, soft white, cherry red, paddy green and navy ...

Two squares ... 68 to go. That's a lotta squares ... better get going. I think this will be a WIP for a while!

Good Morning

Wishing good thoughts,
happiness, and blessings
to your day.

My Granny Ripple

is finished!

For a stash buster, I don't think too bad. With the exception of the lavender (I had to run and get another skein as I ran out) I had these colors on hand and therefore the color combo.

As far as the blanket, this a keeper pattern for me. I can see this is one that I will make again and again. Its fun to work on and very simple and yet looks so good!
The dimensions of this are 48" X 42", a bit larger then a lapghan but certainly can be used as one and yet large enough to cover up in your favorite chair on chilly evenings.
Its home has yet to be decided.

9-11 Addendum

I often hear that we have forgotten ... that has prompted this

Addendum:

Nine years ago on September 26th, two weeks from tomorrow, I, my husband and a few friends worked at the Ground Zero site in NYC bringing food and supplies to the firemen and police men who were coming out of as well as going into the pit. I stood probably about 100 yards from the rubble of what was the Twin Towers. It was still burning.

I wish that every American could have seen what we saw. We did write an account which I may share later, but still, 9 years later, I cannot believe the devastation that I saw. I have never found the words to accurately describe it. Never in my life have I seen anything like this and I pray to God that never again do we see such a thing.

WE MUST NEVER FORGET.

Good Afternoon

Just stopping in on the fly. Came in just to grab a few more supplies for my afternoon work, a quick scan here and then back out the door. It is a most amazing day ... full sun, warm but not too much so and a breeze that is giving way to some gentle Fall air. To say the day is glorious is an understatement. It takes away those moments of the day that are not so pleasant. Thank you Father for such a gift as today.

May your afternoon be filled
with His light.
