It's That Time

Summer done and a new school year begins. Its been many years since I had one starting school. I look at the two young men who were those little ones boarding the bus so many years ago and wonder how we got here so fast.
*
I was talking to a young mother the other day whose little five year old begins school this year. I smile as she says she can't even talk about it without crying. She says he's still her baby. What she doesn't realize yet is that he'll always be "still her baby" far beyond the years of school.

Some things just never change.

  3. Oh, I used to love it when the kids would go back to school in the fall. They were always so bored during summer and expected me to find things for them to do. My own little grandson started Kindergarten this year and when the teacher told him to take his seat he said, "You ain't the boss of me!" He started Kindergarten in the corner crying. Since then he's been much better. ;-)

  4. Good Morning Glor!

Yes... they will always be her babies. Michael will always be my baby and he is 30.

My little cousin, Mariah, in W.V. asked her kindergarten teacher at the end of the school day, " I can come back tomorrow, right? " I bet her teacher loved that!!!

  5. Amen to that, Gloria! They will certainly *always* be our babies. Mine are 27 and 24 now. And, of course, I now have grandkids who will always be my "grandbabies". :D

  6. I know my boys are getting older, although still school age I get a little teary eyed when I think of the young men they are becoming and I miss those days where they just hung out with mom and a hug was freely given.

  7. Our school year here in Australia ends in December, so have a few months to go. My boys are in middle school, and my daughter starts kindergarten next year. I'm not sure how I will deal with that. I try not to think too much about it just yet. I had a hard time when my boys started kindergarten for sure.

    Blessings,
    Andrea
