Tuesday Treasures - The Beauty of The Season

I have found such sweet graphics this year that I just have to post them.  They bring to mind memories of Christmas past, quite long ago now, and the season's reason.  Quite often I remember an afternoon after school (high school ... many years ago!) and my girlfriend and I walked downtown to do some Christmas shopping.  The main thoroughfare was department stores ... Sears and Robuck, Fishmans, Woolworths, the original five and dime which no longer exists, lots of small shops.  Beautiful decorations wherever one would look.  Lighted garland strung from lamppost to lamppost.   We stopped at Texas Weiners, they had the most amazing hot dogs and chilli sauce.  You couldn't go shopping without stopping there, the scent of that sauce filled the cold air and would just draw you in.  As it became dark and it was time to go, we walked to where my father worked to go home.  By this time it was lightly snowing.   It was a most beautiful site, the snow, the lights, Santa on the corner.  You could hear Merry Christmas being spoken.  It was a scene right out of a movie.  It was a quieter time, a place of light heartedness for two highschool girls without a care in the world but to notice the beauty of the season.

Whoever you are, wherever you are I hope that your days are filled with peace, hope and joy.

  1. What a beautiful post, thank you. Wishing you the same. Heather

peace and blessing being sent your way

  3. You really have found some lovely graphics. I have so enjoyed them.

Your walk down memory lane really made me stop and think about my own past Christmases. I loved the carolers that strolled through the stores singing while you shopped, the window displays and the hustle and bustle of the season. Thanks for taking me there.

  4. I really want to print some graphics for paper crafting and decoupaging but haven't gotten out home computer to start working again. Fix one thing and another doesn't work. It's been a quiet day around here. I love days at home without any obligations. Happy day to you! Tammy

  5. This is so sweet....first of all that moving image is darling!
and secondly..your reminiscing brought back my own winter memories of going out for lunch with my best friend Colleen for hot gravy french fries 'to go'....we would walk in the cold while eating our fries and talking.....

there is nothing better than remembering sweet moments! thanks!
