A Crocheted Canvas

One of my latest projects is this newborn coverlet, 19 x 24 inches before the edging. A very simple, soft little blanket of single crochets to be "painted" in cross stitch.

Have to dig out my cross stitch patterns and decide upon a picture. Counted cross stitch is very easy to do on single crochet.

These are a few that I'm looking at so far. Still have books to go through.

  1. What a lovely idea. I can't wait to see what it looks like when you are done. Why is it that when I do something in single crochet, I don't find it quite so enchanting? I think it is because the yarn here is just so thin. Your little coverlet is so pretty just as it is, but embellished, it's gonna be adorable! Do you use yarn for the cross-stitch part or DMC? Finish quick so I can see. :) Blessings, Tammy

  4. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with, Gloria! I have never done counted cross stitch, although I have done stamped cross stitch many times. Anyhoo, I am sure whatever you come up with will be fantastic! :)
